The Plaza Mayor de Alcobendas has hosted today the presentation of the new vehicles of the Local Police and Civil Protection that the City Council has invested 350,016.70 euros in.
These include two vans for accident reports by the traffic patrol, in cases of accidents and preventive control tasks for alcohol or substance consumption incompatible with driving; a van for the PUMA Unit equipped with the most modern anti-riot systems for a quick response to emergencies and extreme security problems, and two vans that will be added to SEMURA (Municipal Emergency and Rescue Service) and Civil Protection for the transportation of people or goods.
Significant investment for a secure city
With these new acquisitions, the municipal government continues to strengthen the security services of the municipality, in which it has already invested nearly four million euros during this term to enhance the security, technology, and personnel resources of the two hundred Local Police officers and 190 Civil Protection volunteers.
Marta Martín has also announced that «after the summer, we will have a scanner for accident reconstruction and a new drone with artificial intelligence.»
New emergency plan for floods
Today, the Alcobendas Emergency Observatory has also met to review the latest actions taken in emergency situations in our city and the measures established for episodes of high temperatures. The new Municipal Civil Protection Action Plan for Flood Risk (PLANINUN) has been presented. This plan’s main goal is to achieve maximum protection for the population and prevent or reduce damages to property, essential services, and the environment. It establishes the structure of public and private resources to address situations of risk or severe emergencies.
The plan includes, among other things, monitoring the water level evolution of the municipality’s watercourses, categorizing vulnerable elements and areas, signaling flood-prone sections, and providing information and alerts to the population in risky situations.
