El túnel de Sol cerrado afecta a las líneas C-3 y C-4, con estación de Sol sin servicio.

From next Saturday until August 30, the Sol tunnel – between Atocha and Chamartín – will remain closed, causing disruptions on lines C-3 and C-4. Additionally, Sol station will be out of service throughout the construction period.

This closure is part of the remodeling works at Atocha station, with the aim to increase tunnel capacity by 33%, benefiting especially C-3 (Aranjuez/Chamartín Clara Campoamor) and C-4 (Parla/Alcobendas-Colmenar) lines.

Tres Cantos, closer to having its new Cercanías station

The platform 5 will also be expanded, serving tracks 9 and 10 to improve its operation and dedicate it to boarding and alighting passengers on the C-5 line.

Therefore, starting from July 19, train circulation between Chamartín and Atocha will be interrupted. Users of these lines will need to use C-2, C-7, C-8, and C-10, which go through Recoletos tunnel connecting Atocha and Chamartín.

New phase in the A-5 tunneling: closure of access to M-30 tunnel and diversions through Paseo de Extremadura

Initially, these actions were scheduled to start in January, but progress in the A-5 tunneling and the consequent reinforcement of C-5 required them to be postponed until summer when demand for Cercanías network usually decreases.

Concurrently, the C-5 line service will continue to be suspended between Villaverde Alto and Embajadores until July 30.

Service Enhancements

To facilitate travel, Renfe will increase capacity by 20,000 additional seats per day, by boosting frequencies on C-4 and C-10 lines during peak hours.

Additionally, reserved trains will be available in Villaverde Alto to handle potential passenger surges and promptly address any incidents.

Moreover, C-10 will also see capacity enhancements during peak and off-peak hours, aiming to enhance transportation and support the closure of Metro line 6 between Méndez Álvaro and Príncipe Pío.
