The first 294 families granted the baby verification have already received the 500 euros from this municipal aid. Yesterday, the mayor, Rocío García Alcántartara (PP), met with six of the winners.
The Baby Verification is one of the main initiatives of the municipal government to assist families in Alcobendas and promote childbirth. "Since I took office as mayor, it has been a priority to implement policies to promote childbirth, reconciliation, and support for families," said the mayor yesterday. He also spoke with parents about the city’s offerings and their needs and concerns: "Listening to their ideas and reflections has helped me stimulate childbirth, housing, and family time in our city."
Requirement
The Baby Verification is an aid granted by the city of Alcobendas to its newborn residents. The requirements include at least one of the parents, adopters, or recipients being registered in Alcobendas at least three years before the birth, acceptance, or adoption of the child. It consists of a one-time payment of 500 euros for each child born, adopted, or in a foster care situation. For multiple births, the maximum limit per applicant will be 1,500 euros.
In this first call (for births occurring between January 1 and September 30, 2024), 349 applications were submitted, and 294 checks were issued to those who meet the requirements. Births occurring from October 1, 2024, onwards will be eligible for the next call, which will be announced in seven days on the municipal website.
Other Municipal Actions
Within its Birth Plan, Alcobendas, in addition to the Baby Verification, carries out many other actions for families, promoting childbirth and reconciliation. Among them is the Maternity Hospitals project, offering individual and group support for pregnant women and children under two years old; the Online Pediatrics Area, providing families with advice on health and development in the early stages of life; and the delivery of welcome baskets, My First Steps.
Over 800 New Births in 2024
In 2024, there were 801 new births in our city. According to a recent birth survey in Alcobendas, families consider increased financial aid, expanded facilities and programs, and family support programs as the most effective measures to promote childbirth.
Among the most well-known and appreciated measures is the baby verification (for 72% of women informed about municipal aid programs).
