Yesterday, the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, awarded Alcobendas with the Madrid Open Awards for «talent attraction» during a gala hosted by the journalist and businesswoman, Gloria Lomanana, at the Bornemisza Museum. The event was attended by the Vice Mayor of Madrid, Imaculate Sanz Otero, several councilors from the Community of Madrid, the Director General of the Thyssen Museum, Evebedo, as well as other authorities and representatives from the business sector such as Ángel Asensio, President of the Community of Madrid, Enrique Cerezo, President of Atlético Madrid, and Juan Abarca, President of the IDIS Foundation and HM Hospitals.
The award was accepted by the Mayor, Rocío García Alcántara, who expressed gratitude to Gerardo Seeliger, President of the Open Cities and neighbor of Alcobendas, and the rest of the jury, «for this recognition of the local council of Alcobendas, acknowledging the great work we are doing.»
The Mayor also thanked the regional President «for always having my city in mind for major regional investments and proudly raising the flag of freedom and dignity.»
Meanwhile, Isabel Díaz Ayuso highlighted in her speech the work carried out by the Mayor of Alcobendas, who «consistently excels with effort and dedication,» emphasizing that our municipality is «one of the most thriving cities in Spain.» The President of the Community wanted to appreciate the Madrid region as «a home for entrepreneurial individuals, free-spirited people who aspire to thrive and achieve new goals, and an economic powerhouse in service of Spain.»
Promoting the city and region beyond Spain
Madrid Open Cities is a non-profit association formed by institutions, companies, leading organizations, and entrepreneurs in their fields to position and promote Madrid in foreign markets as an international business hub, with outstanding human capital and the primary goal of attracting investments, talent, and innovation across all sectors.
With the awards presented yesterday, the efforts of institutions, companies, projects, and individuals to promote the Madrid region were recognized among 120 candidates.
