On May 30, the cleaning workers’ assembly of Seromal ratified the agreement reached between the Committee and the company’s management for the signing of their Collective Agreement 2024/2027. This new agreement, which will be signed shortly, covers a staff of over 200 workers who will see improvements in their economic and social conditions.
One of Seromal’s main tasks, the Municipal Services Company of the Alcobendas City Council, is the cleaning of municipal buildings and public schools. They clean over 180,000 square meters daily, with 130,000 in more than a hundred municipal buildings and nearly 50,000 in schools and daycare centers. The excellent work of this human capital is essential for the proper delivery of municipal services.
Main agreements:
The main agreements adopted in this agreement are:
- The duration of the agreement will be 4 years.
- Guarantees the maximum salary increase agreed in the General State Budgets Law for 2024 (2%) or the one approved by the Government each year.
- Expansion and improvement of the so-called ‘effective working hours bonus’ to help reduce absenteeism. Workers who have attended at least 98% of the effective working hours every three months will receive an amount ranging from 87.50 to 125 euros quarterly.
- Increase in paid leave days: guarantees 13 annual holidays and improvements in leave for illness, surgery, hospitalization, death, medical visits, pregnancy, and breastfeeding.
- Improvements in the working conditions of the ‘standby’ service that will facilitate work-life balance through a work schedule and service provision in rotating shifts.
- Improvements in loans, increasing the fund to 60,000 euros, with a 3-month grace period and repayment terms of up to 48 months.
- Improvements in the subscribed life and disability insurance policies.
- Creation of a training fund aimed at the training of workers, without it having to be linked to work activity.
- Improvement of cleaning products and tools, as well as work clothing, a demand considered very important by all workers.
The signing of this new agreement will enable the payment of retroactive salary increases for the year 2024, which will be paid shortly and amount to an average of approximately 475 euros.
“After two years of management by the current Government team, Seromal has closed with balanced annual accounts for the first time in four years, exiting the red numbers and achieving a positive economic result of 18,157.67 euros, which had not happened since 2021,” emphasizes the councilor responsible for Seromal, Jesús Montero.
This second agreement adds to the gardening agreement signed last January, which already brought significant social advances and salary improvements for this group.
Seromal’s manager, Carmen Gómez, has stated that “meetings continue to reach an agreement with the Construction Committee under similar conditions,” which would complete the company’s collective bargaining, started last January with the agreement reached with the Gardening employees.
