Two individuals were caught red-handed in Galapagar thanks to the collaboration between the Local Police and the Department of Environment which allowed them to pinpoint the exact moment when the perpetrators left their ‘mark’ and warned of the imminent graffiti, as reported by the City Council.
The Local Police knew, as stated in the municipal note, that the next step in this type of crime is to repeat the offense and quickly return to «leave their signature» at the site of the recently removed graffiti.
A surveillance operation was launched which, as planned, led to catching these individuals «in the act».
Galapagar’s image makeover manages to remove 7,000 graffiti tags
Galapagar has removed over 7,000 graffiti tags from facades and urban furniture in the municipality. This work also allows for a thorough control of the «black spots» and an understanding of the modus operandi of those who dirty the walls.
The two individuals now identified have been reported for an infraction of the Municipal Cleaning Ordinance, which depending on the recurrence or severity of the offense, may result in fines ranging from 300 to 3,000 euros.
