Families in Alcobendas can apply for school meal assistance for the 2024/2025 school year until Thursday, June 19 through the Electronic Headquarters of the Alcobendas City Council.
Raise income threshold
This year’s aid call allocates 715,000 euros to families with children enrolled in publicly funded Infant and Primary schools who have used the school meal service during the current school year.
The government team considers supporting families a political priority, allocating an additional 140,000 euros for school supplies. To ensure that these scholarships reach more households, the City Council has increased the per capita income threshold to qualify, raising it from 8,500 euros in last year’s call to 9,500 euros in the current one.
Additionally, the maximum aid was increased from 450 to 500 euros in 2024. Nearly 1,100 children benefited from municipal school meal assistance, a number expected to increase due to the income threshold increase.
Requirements
Families eligible for these aids must meet the following requirements: the student and the applicant (parent, guardian, or tutor) must have been registered in Alcobendas continuously since at least September 1, 2024; the student must be enrolled in a publicly funded school in the Community of Madrid during the 2024-2025 school year, in either the first or second cycle of Infant education or in Primary education; and must be up to date on municipal tax payments.
At the Electronic Headquarters
The application process for families has been simplified this year. They can contact the Education Department to address any questions or clarifications. The documentation required includes:
– Completed and signed application form.
– School enrollment certificate, only if the students are enrolled in schools outside the municipality.
– Copy of the Family Book, divorce decree, regulatory agreement, etc., to prove family unity. It is not necessary if it has already been submitted in previous calls without changes.
– If authorization to consult the City Council is not granted, the applicant must submit the 2023 Income Tax Return, certificate of being up to date on municipal tax payments, and, if applicable, the disability certificate.
