A new plan for videovigilance in Campo Real to combat the irresponsible individuals who do not hesitate to dump trash, furniture, and construction debris in the countryside or in the heart of the urban area.
Several hidden cameras that will rotate in their locations will try to capture the offenders. They have been warned because fines, in the mildest cases, can reach 20,000 euros.
The Local Police will select the places where waste is usually dumped. The cameras, assures the City Council, strictly comply with data protection regulations. The rights of citizens are respected, and the images are only stored for a few days for viewing by the agents.

«It’s not about fining more, but about dissuading those who dirty our town or identifying them so they think twice before doing it again,» says Mayor Francisco Leal.
TRAFFIC AND DOG FECES CONTROL
Leal has announced that traffic control cameras can also provide images of uncivil behaviors of pet owners.
New cameras will also be installed in areas turned into «real dog excrement fields,» recalling that under the new Ordinance on Pet Ownership and Protection, fines for not removing feces from public roads can reach 500 euros.

«We want to send a clear message that we will not tolerate any more uncivil acts that harm the well-being of our neighbors. We rely on citizen collaboration for this measure to have the greatest possible impact,» said the mayor.
