Virgen de Paz in Alcbendas
Devotion to the Virgen de la Paz in Alcbendas has uncertain roots, although it is believed to date back to The Reconquista.
According to legend in the ancient city of Fuentidueña, known today as Soto de Moraleja, a shepherd with a miraculous revelation: the Virgin appeared in a fig tree while tending to his sheep.
After receiving the healing miracle in his hand, the young man was instructed by the Virgin to announce the apparition. This moment is reflected in iconography, where The shepherd is depicted at the feet of the virgin in a fig tree.
