Celebración del Carnaval en Alcobendas

Alcobendas, as is traditional, dressed up for carnival in the days leading up to the beginning of Lent. It has been days of dances, costumes, parades, parties, workshops…

The most spectacular and colorful event, and the one with the highest participation, was once again the Great Carnival Parade. Despite the rain and cold, more than a thousand residents – including families, children, elderly, youth…– and 20 groups from parent-teacher associations and associations participated in the parade.

The jury had a difficult time determining the winning groups. In the adult category, the following were awarded: Best Costume: Andalusian Association, for China and the dragon (top right); Less is more: Asdass, for Happy Rockers, and Best animation and satire: Dream Dance Association Ecuador, for their folklore theme of Ecuador. In the children’s category, the awards were distributed as follows: Best Costume: AMPA CEIP Federico García Lorca, for Phoenix (top right, in the middle); Less is more: AMPA CEIP Luis Buñuel, for Foam Baths, and Best animation and satire: Youth Association Yambo, for Astronauts and Martians.

‘Carnival Dance for Seniors’ and ‘Great Carnival Party’

The Carnival celebrations began on Wednesday, February 26 with the traditional Carnival Dance for Seniors, held at La Esfera. It featured performances by La Rondalla and a DJ, and was entertained by Teatro La Alegría and Amanecer 65. And on the night of Friday, February 28, the Great Carnival Party was held at La Esfera (as part of the Noches en La Esfera program). A new proposal with music from the 80s and 90s by DJs Toni Peret and Sara, both from Kiss FM. There were also prizes for the best costumes with tickets to Kinépolis and Cinesa La Moraleja cinemas. The prize for the best individual costume went to Recycled Fantasy and the group prize was won by the mini-group Los caramelitos, who livened up the evening with the light of their costumes. On Wednesday, March 5, unfavorable weather conditions forced the cancellation of the Burial of the Sardine, but, the Bloco do Baliza association held an Open Brazilian Percussion Class activity at their center (c/ San José Artesano, 7).
