«It is recommended not to drive or engage in leisure activities near rivers or waterways that are at risk of overflowing,» warned Emergencies, which is closely monitoring the Lozoya, Guadarrama, and Henares rivers due to rising water levels.
Early on Saturday morning, the level 1 of the Flood Plan of the Community of Madrid (Inuncam) was activated in anticipation of heavy rainfall throughout the morning as forecasted by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
The director of ASEM112, Pedro Ruiz, stated that they are currently «monitoring all river basins in the region.»

The Community of Madrid reminds of the advice from the Inuncam plan, which recommends checking the condition of roofs, downspouts, pipes, and drains before emergencies; having supplies such as a battery-powered radio, flashlight, and first aid kit; and storing water and food for three days.
In the event of floods or snowfall emergencies, citizens are urged to follow evacuation procedures and instructions from authorities, avoid congesting phone lines, steer clear of affected roads to prevent getting stranded, and stay away from riverbeds, streams, ravines, and hill bases.
