Soon, various improvements in paving and access on Calle Cuesta and Plaza del Ayuntamiento will be carried out, as well as work on other streets. In Patones, on the other hand, the streets of the municipality are being improved, and works will soon begin for a more comfortable access by road.

Within Pueblos con vida, both localities have public funds for urbanization, paving, and reinforcement of services in the urban area, the improvement of sports facilities, and other public services. In addition, with the Mobile Citizen Attention Office, which has been operating for six months, this service is provided periodically in the municipality of El Atazar and Patones.

More social investments

Díaz Ayuso has emphasized that since 2019, the Community of Madrid has invested 193 million euros to strengthen social care in the Sierra Norte, through the Social Services Consortium that includes the two municipalities to provide their neighbors with support, assistance, and personalized care.

Since that same year, the regional government guarantees the care of nearly 1,300 elderly and dependent people in the Sierra Norte, a period during which more than 500 places in residences, Day Centers, and supervised apartments located in their municipalities have been funded.

The residents of El Atazar and Patones benefit from the home care provided by the Community of Madrid for the localities in the Sierra Norte. Between 2019 and 2024, care for people with disabilities in these municipalities has been reinforced through a network of five centers. This includes three residential centers, one occupational center, and one rehabilitation center that provides individualized coverage to more than 150 people.

Furthermore, another public resource for this area is the 83 places for minors and adolescents in three residential care centers and a children’s home located in different municipalities of the Sierra Norte. Meanwhile, in the health sector, various improvement works are currently being planned in the local clinics of El Atazar and Patones that will be carried out throughout this year.

On the other hand, the Community of Madrid is expanding the on-demand taxi service in the Sierra Norte de Madrid to facilitate mobility in these population centers like these two small municipalities.

The measures of Pueblos con vida are designed by the Community of Madrid to revitalize municipalities with less than 20,000 inhabitants, such as El Atazar and Patones. It is a set of key measures to improve connectivity, the conditioning of public spaces, the dynamization of popular festivals, the rehabilitation of rental housing at affordable prices, along with other municipal works and services to also combat depopulation.
