The Plaza Mayor de Alcobendas has been the setting today for a solemn flag swearing ceremony by 205 civilians, attended by the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and the Mayor of Alcobendas, Rocío García Alcántara.
The Mayor stated, «This has been a very important event for our city, reflecting the commitment of the armed forces to society and the citizens’ interest in reaffirming their bond with Spain. I want to thank all the residents who came to Plaza Mayor to share this special moment with all the oath-takers, reaffirming their commitment to the values that unite us as a society.»
Antonio R. Bernal Martín, Chief General of the «Guadarrama» XII Brigade, the organizing body of the event, presided over this civilian swearing-in ceremony alone. Citizens publicly expressed their respect and loyalty to freedom, justice, unity, and all the constitutional values represented by the Spanish flag.
During the ceremony, the oldest and youngest oath-takers, aged 92 and 18 respectively, laid a floral tribute in homage to those who gave their lives for our nation. To conclude, a military unit parade took place along Avenida de España.
