The Mayor of Alcobendas, Rocío García Alcántara, and the Sports Councillor, Jesús Tortosa, visited the Valdelasfuentes Sports City this morning to personally check the great benefits of the 98 new state-of-the-art cardio machines that have been installed in the ‘Fitness Room’.
The City Council has invested a total of 649,896.80 euros in upgrading 146 machines, as in addition to those at the Valdelasfuentes Sports City, another 48 were recently installed last week in the same room at the José Caballero Municipal Sports Center, and soon all weightlifting, free weight, and other functional training machines will be upgraded.
The Mayor stated, «This investment is part of our commitment, as the European City of Sport 2025, to renew and improve our sports facilities.» She added, «Users can already enjoy these new machines, which will undoubtedly enhance their workouts with their innovative features.»
State-of-the-Art Machines
In total, 33 electronic treadmills, 25 elliptical machines, 9 variable stride ellipticals, 28 electronic stationary bikes, 14 electronic recumbent bikes, 11 indoor cycling bikes, 11 indoor cycling bikes with simulator, 2 steppers, 1 electronic stair climber, 8 ergometric rowers, and 4 arm cycle ergometers have been installed in the two facilities.
All the upgraded machinery is state-of-the-art, designed for professional use, and most are equipped with capacitive touch screens. They feature HD video programming with virtual routes to make training more engaging, are compatible with mobile phones and tablets, and have USB charging ports. Moreover, they are designed to provide users with all kinds of data about their training: distance, calories, effort level, speed, heart rate, and more.
The most notable addition is the installation of indoor cycling bikes with simulators, and the large screens on the stationary bikes stand out, allowing users to recreate the experience of riding a bike through a visual environment.
