The Alcobendas City Council has today renewed the collaboration agreement it has maintained for several years with the Victims of Terrorism Foundation (FVT). The agreement includes a grant of 4,000 euros for the implementation of psychological support activities for terrorism victims and their families.
The acting mayor, Marta Martín, has congratulated the president of the FVT, Juan Francisco Benito Valenciano, for the «active involvement of the Foundation alongside the city of Alcobendas in the defense of truth and against the impunity of the murders» and highlighted the city’s commitment to the victims and their memory, «which has been demonstrated in various events such as the day held last March with over 300 students from different educational centers where we were able to hear the moving testimonies of a victim of the attacks on the 11th and the widow of a soldier killed by ETA.»
Marta Martín also recalled that the municipality has several spaces dedicated to terrorism victims, such as the square honoring the Atocha lawyers or the memorial for the 212 deceased in the 11-M 2004 train bombings, and that soon there will be music rehearsal spaces named in honor of Miguel Ángel Blanco and a skatepark in honor of Ignacio Echeverría, the skateboard hero.
The president of the FVT, on his part, has thanked the great support received from the city of Alcobendas in all the activities carried out by the foundation, especially in organizing talks and sessions with young people to keep the memory of all victims alive.
