The Ramón y Cajal University Hospital will host a new edition of its traditional blood donation marathon this Wednesday, the 7th, and Thursday, the 8th, with a special nod to the celebration of San Isidro, the patron saint of Madrid.
Under the motto ‘Get into the spirit by donating blood!’, the main lobby of the center will have a special decoration dedicated to San Isidro during these two days, where all attendees can take photos at the large photocall.
Organized in collaboration with the Transfusion Center of the Community of Madrid, there will also be a tent at the entrance, manned by Madrid Firefighters alongside Municipal Police and Samur-Civil Protection, where they will encourage donations and offer brief talks on prevention.

In addition, donors will be able to enjoy traditional pastries prepared by the Hospitality Service and will receive two free tickets to visit the exhibition ‘The Worlds of Alice. Dreaming of Wonderland’ thanks to a collaboration agreement.
Specifically, donations can be made in the main hall, on floor 0, from 8:30 a.m. to 8:15 p.m., as indicated by the hospital.
Live Performances
To liven up the blood donation marathon, this Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., the a capella group ‘Vocal Dimension’ will perform, debuting their new show ‘Vocal Express’, a non-stop journey full of humor, harmonies, and a few turbulences.

Following them, a scene from the emblematic zarzuela ‘Chotis de Madrid’, extracted from ‘La Chulapona’, will be performed, featuring the main choir of the company ‘Classics of Lyric’, all dressed in period costumes recreating the festive and endearing spirit of bustling Madrid of yesteryear.
Also, starting at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8th, the Ramón y Cajal Choir will offer a performance in the main hall.
Donating Blood, Simple and Supportive
The basic requirements to be a donor are being between 18 and 65 years old, weighing over 50 kilos, and being in good health.
It is a simple process that lasts no more than 20 minutes and can be done every 8 weeks, as long as it is not done more than 4 times in a 12-month period for men and 3 times for women.
In addition to the Transfusion Center, located at Avenida de la Democracia s/n, corner with Avenida de las Comunidades in the capital, those who wish to make this gesture can count on the Mobile Units of the Community of Madrid and the Red Cross, whose locations and hours of service can be checked on the website comunidad.madrid/donarsangre.
