The president of the Junta de Extremadura, María Guardiola, will celebrate, along with her counterpart in Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, a meeting of institutional collaboration this Monday and Tuesday, February 24 and 25, in Mérida, with the «common concern» for the closure of the Almaraz Nuclear Power Plant.
Thus, the leader from Madrid will travel to Mérida this Monday with part of her Cabinet to discuss with the Extremaduran government programs and actions in the economic, social, and cultural areas for the benefit of the citizens of both regions.
Specifically, it is planned that the councilors of Presidency, Justice and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín; Economy, Finance and Employment, Rocío Albert; Housing, Transport and Infrastructure, Jorge Rodrigo, and Environment, Agriculture and Interior, Carlos Novillo, will travel from Madrid to hold meetings with their Extremaduran counterparts.
During this meeting, issues related to healthcare and dependence; children and seniors, victims of violence against women, education, housing and transportation; entrepreneurship, research and digitalization; administrative modernization, emergencies; culture, tourism and sports, and livestock and agribusiness, among others, will be discussed.
Madrid and Extremadura will meet in opposition to the closure of the Almaraz Nuclear Power Plant
Specifically, Guardiola and Ayuso will hold a meeting at 12:00 p.m. this Monday at the headquarters of the Junta de Extremadura, and later, at 1:00 p.m., they will sign a collaboration protocol between both administrations.
Likewise, at 6:00 p.m. this same Monday, María Guardiola will accompany Isabel Díaz Ayuso to visit Trujillo with the mayor of this town in Cáceres, María Inés Rubio.
For Tuesday, the 24th, a visit by the presidents to the Almaraz Nuclear Power Plant is scheduled, whose cessation of operations concerns both Administrations due to its social, economic, and energy impact.
Also, during the morning of Tuesday, telematic meetings will be held by the rest of the councilors, who will join those that have already been held in preparation for the meeting, as reported by the Junta de Extremadura in a press release.
