The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso and the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, presented the final Formula 1 circuit in Madrid this Friday. The mayor stated that if Las Ventas was «the Monumental of the 20th century,» the circuit will be «the Monumental of the 21st century.»
Both leaders participated in the presentation event held in the tunnel, a part of the circuit that will connect the Valdebebas area with the Ifema area. The regional president stated that the city is «living a dream» and celebrated being able to witness this becoming a reality.
After bravely navigating the circuit in a rally car with driver Carlos Sainz, sometimes with «eyes closed,» she thanked the people of Madrid for their kindness and flexibility in hosting major events. She emphasized how they always cooperate and assist, whether it’s closing a street, changing a route, or contributing in any way needed.

«Because Madrid is indeed a welcoming region, a crossroads that is always ready to give its best to make things work,» she emphasized. She concluded by highlighting that «anyone with a dream and a project» can «make it big in Madrid», without fear or sadness.
«This is a reward for all of Spain, in service to Spain, so that all those with a business, studies, or anything related to the world of motorsports or sports can thrive in this region,» she concluded.
The «sadness» of the left
The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, also spoke of sadness, referencing the left-wing opposition in Madrid «sad because Formula 1 is coming here.» This statement came a day after Más Madrid announced they will appeal the license issued for the construction of the circuit.
«Formula 1 needed Madrid, and Madrid needed Formula 1 to continue progressing, and that ambition that characterizes us, the people of Madrid, that ambition that characterizes us as a city, is what has enabled this impressive achievement and allowed us to keep moving forward,» he highlighted.
The Formula 1 circuit in Madrid kicks off
He explained that «if Las Ventas is the Monumental of the 20th century, here is the Monumental of the 21st century.» Almeida also expressed gratitude to «Chema and Juan Carlos,» technicians from the City Council who, along with their team, «have put their all» over the past months to push through the 300-page license and 130 reports necessary for construction.
The event also featured Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz Jr, who will be the circuit’s ambassador, and his father who already toured the circuit with Ayuso. Additionally, there was a tractor race in one of the sections and a first-person video of a driver navigating a 3D model of the future circuit.
