The mayor, Rocío García Alcántara, began by thanking Julián Caballero Aguado for his «tireless work that has forever captured the essence of our history, narrating, among other things, the devotion and love of our people towards our beloved Virgin.» «This appointment is a great source of pride – she added – because the history of Alcobendas deserves to be known, celebrated, and passed on for eternity.»
Next, the mayor presented the new «Official Chronicler of the Villa of Alcobendas» with a commemorative medal of his appointment, which is lifelong, honorary, and without financial compensation. Expert in Alcobendas
Julián Caballero Aguado is a legal procurator by profession. Coming from a family in Alcobendas, he has always been connected to our city. In 1999, he published his first book, «Historias del Antiguo Alcobendas,» which uncovered significant historical figures of the municipality such as a dean of the bar association during the Liberal Triennium or a heroic general in the Cuban War.
He later released «Historia de la Villa de Alcobendas» and «Alcobendas Taurina,» where he examines the evolution of this passion that various documents from the Simancas Archive, dated in 1516 and 1627, already placed in our city at that time.
In 2023, he presented his latest book, «Milagro en Alcobendas,» a historical novel where friends meet on a trip to the Holy Land and, inspired by the miracle of the Wedding at Cana, one of them recounts the one that, also involving wine, took place in Alcobendas in the 7th Century. He is also known for his articles in the magazines «Alcobendas» and «Todo Alcobendas.»
