Metro de Madrid will reinforce up to 21% of the trains running on lines 2, 3, 5, and 10 of the subway during the University Entrance Exams (PAU) to ensure the mobility of students, with additional trains also on the section that will remain open on Line 6 (Moncloa-Legazpi).
The PAU exams, which nearly 40,000 Madrid students took last year, will take place on June 3, 4, 5, and 6 in the regular session (June 7 will be reserved for possible coincidences and incidents).
On the other hand, the extraordinary session will take place on July 1, 2, and 3, with July 4 reserved for possible incidents and coincidences.
PAU 2025 is here: tips for students and what parents should not do during the most demanding selectivity process
These dates will coincide with the closure of the western arc of Line 6 (a total of 15 stops), between Moncloa and Méndez Álvaro (both stations will be available to operate as terminus stations for the open section) from Saturday, May 31, until September 12.
Alternatives to reach Ciudad Universitaria
In this way, students will have different alternatives available, in addition to the Special Replacement Service (SE6) that covers the surface route, which will run between the terminus stations of Ciudad Universitaria and Méndez Álvaro.
Want to pass the PAU? Follow these tips
In any case, from Méndez Álvaro or Pacífico, as well as from the rest of the stations in the eastern arc of the line, you can reach Ciudad Universitaria through the open section (platform 1).
Furthermore, from Moncloa station, you can continue to use both Line 6, as that section remains open, and the university buses from EMT.
How to avoid getting lost in your trips in Madrid with the closure of half of Metro Line 6
From Legazpi station, you can directly reach Moncloa on Metro Line 3 and then connect again with Metro or buses, while from Oporto, the quickest option would be to switch to Line 5 until Callao and from there Line 3 to Moncloa.
From Príncipe Pío, the best alternative is to take Line 10 to Plaza de España and then, again, to Moncloa on Line 3.
EMT and intercity bus reinforcement
Regarding the Municipal Transport Company (EMT) buses, there will be an additional fleet of 224 buses to cover these routes.
For the Moncloa Campus, lines F, G, U, 82, and 132 will be reinforced, and for students heading to the Somosaguas Campus, there will be more services on lines A and H.
As for intercity buses connecting Madrid with the Alcalá de Henares faculties, line 227 or the Autónoma de Cantoblanco, the 714 and the urban L2 of the Alcalá town will have the same frequency as on winter school days.
