
Today, the Digitalization Advisor of the Community of Madrid, Miguel López-Valverde Agüeso, visited the Valdelasfuentes Sports City in Alcobendas where he toured the facilities, met with some representatives of the city’s sports clubs, and introduced a new line of grants for sports entities.
During his visit, he was accompanied by the acting Mayor of Alcobendas, Marta Martín, and the Councilors of Sports and Digital Transformation, Jesús Tortosa and Belén Fernández-Salinero, respectively. Ignacio Azorín, Director General of Digital Strategy, was also present.
For the first time, the Community of Madrid will launch a grant program to train Madrid sports entities in digital skills. This measure aims to enhance the technological abilities of coaches, managers, referees, administrators, managers, and athletes, among others.
This was announced today by the Digitalization Advisor, Miguel López-Valverde, after visiting the facilities of the Valdelasfuentes Sports City in Alcobendas. He stated that the objective of this initiative is «to help these organizations advance in the professionalization of their management and, therefore, promote the growth and modernization of the social fabric of Madrid in the field of physical activity.»
The only requirement to apply for these grants will be to be 14 years old or older. The courses, which will be conducted through the Madrid Digital Classroom platform, can be taken in-person, online, or in a hybrid format, and will last for 7.5 hours.
The content of the courses available to students will include technology for monitoring physical exercise and injury prevention, training management, digital editing of images and videos to create technical and tactical content, mobile use for health monitoring and recovery, and useful applications for athletes.
This initial call for grants is supported by the European Next Generation funds, aligning with the Digital Citizen Training Plan implemented by the regional Government with the goal of training over 78,000 individuals in digital skills.
